Why Injector Coding is Mandatory for the Discovery 5 Diesel:

• **Unique Flow Calibration (IMA/C2I):** Every modern common rail injector has a unique calibration code (**IMA or C2I**) detailing its exact flow rate and response time. The ECU requires this code for **precise fuel quantity and timing** for each cylinder.
• **Essential for Replacement:** Whenever an injector is replaced (whether new or remanufactured), its unique code **must** be programmed into the Engine Control Unit (ECU).
• **Fixes Rough Running:** Incorrectly coded injectors lead to imbalanced fuel delivery, resulting in **rough idling, poor starting, excessive smoke (black/blue)**, and reduced power.
• **Protecting the DPF:** Accurate fuel timing is vital for proper combustion. Mis-coded injectors cause excess fuel that pollutes the oil (oil dilution) and leads to **rapid DPF clogging and failed regenerations**.
• **Dealer-Level Tools:** We use **JLR-approved diagnostic equipment (SDD/Pathfinder)** to perform the full coding sequence and, crucially, the necessary **Pilot Relearn/Small Quantity Learning** procedure required for smooth running.
